Thanksgiving, 2.0

We celebrated Thanksgiving twice this year. Once with family, and once with friends. We could not have had a better night celebrating our thankfulness for good friends who have helped us in our move/adjusting to a new town more than we can ever express. We had more fantastic food than we knew what to do with and laughed until our stomachs ached. I didn't get the camera out for most of the evening but was able to capture this fantastic shot:
There are very few people who I would invite over to a nice meal and then hang out in the kitchen, circling the washing machine used for counter space as everyone tries to clean the meat off the turkey carcass, all while wearing R.C.'s clothing so as not to freeze in our house that we like to keep quite chilly. This is a great crew though who make it enjoyable to pull a turkey apart, and learn that you have "hotdog hands".

A few days after this Thanksgiving, we made our move next door. While our house was completely chaotic and just a down right mess, we still wanted to kick off the holiday season by getting our tree. A real Christmas tree! We were able to get back to what we had enjoyed doing for years before moving to RI. We set out to chop down our beautiful evergreen one bitterly cold afternoon.

Wagon ride out to the tree field to find our trees.
After much walking, much singing, and many "I think we found it(s)" we finally did find that perfect tree. It was glowing and the angels were singing so we knew it was THE one.
As R.C. and Jake tied the trees to the top of the jeep, the rest of us had some cocoa in the back of the car.
The final tie down...and Lil having to hold the back hatch up with her head so it didn't chop off little kid legs.
Home and in place. Ready to decorate.

I'm almost caught up on blogging...
